Monuments

Information

The church was built between 1852 and 1855 in the Neo-Romanesque style, i.e. circular arches (Rundbogen). The project was designed by architect Friedrich August Stuller - a pupil of the eminent German architect and painter Karl Friedrich Schinkel. The ceremonial consecration of the church took place on 27 March 1855. In 1857, the tower was completed. In 1858, a tower clock constructed by a Chojna clockmaker, Schenker, was installed. Before 1870, the church was equipped with a 27-pipe organ made by the Berlin company Land&Dinie. In the church (funeral chapel), a stained glass window from 1896 with a neutral-sized figure of Christ giving a blessing based on a well-known design by B.Thorwaldsen has been preserved. On 24.11.1945, the church was consecrated in the Catholic rite. In 2011, the parish recovered a historic bell from 1669, which had been requisitioned for military purposes during the Second World War. The bell has returned to the church tower.
