During the battles for Smolnica, the palace luckily avoided being bombed, although the estate suffered badly. After the war, the palace was saved from total devastation, which happened to many surrounding manor houses, by the decision of the authorities to create a colony centre and later a State Agricultural Farm (PGR). From 1956, the palace housed the offices of the State Agricultural Farm and flats for the employees' families. In 1965 the palace was taken over by the Department of Agriculture of the Voivodeship National Council (WRN) in Szczecin and the State Agricultural Technical School was established here. The building is still used as a secondary school with various profiles and specialisations, not only agricultural.
